ScadaOnWeb

ScadaOnWeb (SCADA = Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) is the predecessor of S-TEN. The project finished in October 2003. It was another research project which was also partly funded by the EC (FP5 IST-30067).

ScadaOnWeb was a crucial first step towards the semantic description of engineering and environmental data. It developed and implemented a semantically precise way of publishing structured numeric data obtained from process sensors, with information about measurement quality, on the Web.

ScadaOnWeb delivered a set of ontologies written in OWL (Web Ontology Language). These ontologies support the recording of engineering properties and measurements. Continuing work is being supported by the CASCADE project.

The ScadaOnWeb technology has been validated and demonstrated by serveral demonstrator applications
